A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Tsinghua University Vanke School of Public Health (Tsinghua VSPH) and NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (NUS SSHSPH) focusing on expanding collaboration between the two institutions to promote joint research and development activities.
The signing ceremony took place on 29 April 2023, during a visit by a delegation from NUS SSHSPH to Tsinghua VSPH in Beijing, China. Prof Margaret Chan, Founding Dean of Tsinghua VSPH, and Prof Teo Yik Ying, Dean of NUS SSHSPH, signed the MOU on behalf of the two schools. Prof Chia Kee Seng, Founding Dean of NUS SSHSPH, A/Prof Hsu Li Yang, Vice-Dean of Global Health, A/Prof Liow Chee Hsiang, Vice-Dean of Education, as well as representatives from Tsinghua VSPH witnessed the event.
Both schools will work together to carry out effective collaboration and knowledge exchange in the areas of education system and curriculum design, student exchange programmes, establishment of practical training bases for students to participate in health innovation courses, public health research, and the recommendation of Doctorate Student candidates.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof Teo Yik Ying said that he was delighted to visit the esteemed institution during the 112th anniversary of Tsinghua University and the 3rd anniversary of Vanke School of Public Health. He hoped that both schools will be able to work together to promote the global integration classrooms, doctoral teaching in public health, leadership training for public health talents, and exploring development paths as schools of public health.
Prof Margaret Chan said that both schools have a solid foundation for collaboration and that the signing of the MOU will further collaboration and exchange between the two parties and lay a good foundation for future joint developmental projects to come.
