On May 20th, a delegation of seven members from Tsinghua Vanke School of Public Health (VSPH) visited Geneva and attended the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) together with the Chinese delegation. The VSPH representatives participated in a series of meetings and discussions, sharing Chinese wisdom and experience in the global health sector. The delegation included HUANG Cunrui, Assistant Dean and Professor of VSPH, along with Associated Professor ZHU Jiming, Assistant Professors ZHAO Ai, LI Zhihui, LUO Sitong, LI Guanqiao, and MPH student LI Xuan.
The 76th WHA, themed "WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all," took place in Geneva from 21-30 May, 2023. During the assembly, the VSPH delegation engaged in various roundtable meetings and more than 10 side events. The discussions covered a wide range of critical health topics, including global health governance, pandemic preparedness, health development assistance, climate change, infectious and chronic disease management, health economics, women's and children's health, drug accessibility, behavioral health, immunization planning, health communication, and youth leadership. The VSPH delegation engaged actively with professionals from diverse countries.
The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of World Health Organization (WHO). It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board.
The VSPH delegation also visited public health-related institutions of the University of Geneva, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations.
